1. Defense deserves praise for Week 15 performance

The defense of the Houston Texans stepped up and played a big-time game with a big-time performance on Sunday, as they held the Tennessee Titans to 21 points, and not only that, they put pressure on some of the top players for the Titans.

Where should we start with the performance of the defense? How about the 86-yard interception return by Whitney Mercilus, or the fact rookie defensive end Charles Omenihu had a sack of Ryan Tannehill?

Both of those plays were huge for the defense, and there was also the play of the Texans’ secondary as they deserve some praise too with the team having six passes defensed by Mercilus, Johnathan Joseph, Bradley Roby, Gareon Conley, Justin Reid and Lonnie Johnson Jr.

Zach Cunningham and Benardrick McKinney combined for a sack, and Cunningham led the team with 10 tackles. Another impressive feat by the Texans defense is they held Derrick Henry to 86 yards on 21 carries with no touchdowns.

Houston played well on Sunday, and for as poor as the defense looked last weekend in the loss to Denver, their Week 15 performance was much improved.

This was a needed performance too, because now not only are the Texans in first place in the AFC South all by themselves, but they gained a win over a division opponent in the process.
