This is a Week 14 game where the Houston Texans are the better team on paper, and the oddsmakers believe in them too.

Here is the case for the 2019 Houston Texans (8-4), the path to the AFC South championship is in their favor. They control their own destiny, having a one-game lead over the Tennessee Titans (7-5), and a two-game lead over the Indianapolis Colts (6-6). Don’t forget the Jacksonville Jaguars (4-8) who are four game back of the first-place Texans with four games remaining.

Many believe this is a game the Texans should not on win in Week 14, but they should do so without a lot of struggle when the host the Denver Broncos at NRG Stadium. The Action Network has the Texans as -9 point favorites to win this game, and those are some very solid odds for any NFL team on a given week.

The Broncos can’t be overlooked this week, and they do have two of their four wins in their past four games with victories against the Cleveland Browns (24-19) and the Los Angeles Chargers (23-20), plus on Oct. 27 the Broncos took the Colts to the wire at 15-13, which isn’t an easy task by any means.

In a look at an article on The New York Post by Dave Tuley, he writes the following on the odds of this game for Week 14:

"“Even though the Texans have some impressive wins (including also beating the Chiefs), they don’t always win by big margins at home, such as in their non-covering wins over the Raiders and Colts.”"

As for those who like to make wagers that is your decision, but in an aspect of pure football, the Texans do have the better overall roster, and are coming off maybe their most important win of this season to date with their win over the New England Patriots.

A Texans player to watch in this Week 14 game is running back Carlos Hyde, as he is 147 yards away from a 1,000-yard season. That feat is something the Texans haven’t had happen with a running back since 2016 when Lamar Miller rushed for 1,073 yards on 268 carries.

This season, Hyde has 853 yards on 184 carries, averaging 4.6 yards per carry, plus four touchdowns. The defense of the Broncos allows an average of 113.7 rushing yards per game, meaning Hyde and the Texans offensive line are going have to have maybe their best game of the season to get to the 1,000-yard mark this week.
