The Houston Texans have the lead in the AFC South after Week 12, but with five games left on the schedule, nothing is guaranteed in the division.

Going into Week 13 of the 2019 NFL season, the Houston Texans lead the AFC South with a 7-4 overall record, as they have three wins against division opponents, including one against the Indianapolis Colts and two against the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Houston has yet to face the Tennessee Titans, but those two meetings will come soon enough in Week 15 and Week 17, respectively. This is Week 13, and for the Texans, they will be staying in the AFC, but facing the East leader New England Patriots on Sunday Night Football.

As for the rest of the division, their games include Jacksonville at the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and the Tennessee Titans at the Indianapolis Colts. In the AFC South, the Texans have the aforementioned lead with a 7-4 overall record.

Next, the Colts and Titans are both 6-5 overall, and the Jaguars enter Week 13 at 4-7 on the season. Earlier this season, the Colts defeated the Titans — back in Week 2 — by a 19-17 score in Tennessee.

The game to watch for the AFC South is the Titans at the Colts because someone is going to fall to third place in the division with a loss, and the winner in all possibility could leap up to a first-place tie if the Texans lose their game against the Patriots.

As for this weekend’s game against the Patriots, some good news for the Texans was no players are listed as doubtful or out as of Wednesday’s injury report, with defensive end Carlos Watkins as the only did not practice (DNP) listed on the injury report.

Though the AFC South might not be the best all-around division, it is the maybe the most exciting because three of the teams in the division are very close to each other in the standings with the regular season having only five games remaining.

As for the the teams in the AFC South, their remaining schedules are as follows:

Texans: at New England Patriots (Week 13), vs. Denver Broncos (Week 14), at Tennessee Titans (Week 15), at Tampa Bay Buccaneers (Week 16), vs. Tennessee Titans (Week 17).

Colts: vs. Tennessee Titans (Week 13), at Tampa Bay Buccaneers (Week 14), at New Orleans Saints (Week 15), vs. Carolina Panthers (Week 16), and at Jacksonville Jaguars (Week 17).

Titans: at Indianapolis Colts (Week 13), at Oakland Raiders (Week 14), vs. Houston Texans (Week 15), vs. New Orleans Saints (Week 16), at Houston Texans (Week 17).

Jaguars: vs. Tampa Bay Buccaneers (Week 13), vs. Los Angeles Chargers (Week 14), at Oakland Raiders (Week 15), at Atlanta Falcons (Week 16), at Jacksonville Jaguars (Week 17).

The next five weeks are going to be a sight to behold with the Texans starting out this final run of the regular season in the driver’s seat. The two games between the Texans and Titans just might be the two biggest games left on the AFC South schedule once Week 13 is complete, especially if the Titans can defeat the Colts.

As of right now ,the Texans control their own path to a second consecutive AFC South championship, but the question is can they achieve such a feat again? This is a very exciting time to be a fan of teams in the AFC South, but it is nerve-wracking as well.
