Houston Texans haven’t fared well against Frank Reich’s Colts
By Jair Lopez
Statistical evidence indicates that the Houston Texans have struggled against the Indianapolis Colts with Frank Reich as the head coach.
The Houston Texans (6-4) are heading into Week 12 with their backs against the wall as the Indianapolis Colts (6-4) have the opportunity to put them out of clear contention for a playoff with a defeat on Thursday night. Having the tiebreaker and another win over the Texans would result in the Texans fighting for a better record than the Colts to finish first in the division for a playoff spot.
Texans haven’t played there best football as of late after playing a poor four quarters against the Baltimore Ravens that dropped them to four losses for the season and second in the AFC South behind the Colts with their 33-13 win against the Jacksonville Jaguars.
Houston has struggled to defeat the Colts since Frank Reich took over as the head coach in 2018 and holds a 1-3 record against Indianapolis. The Colts have given the Texans everything they could handle, and have been their kryptonite in the race as the best team in the AFC South. Texans only win up to this point went to overtime with Ka’imi Fairbairn scoring a game-winning field goal to defeat the Colts 37-34 in 2018.
Although losing three out of four games is a tough pill to swallow, the Texans have kept the games extremely close, except for their most recent playoff loss. Texans have scored 88 total points compared to the Colts 99 total points. Texans were scoring an average of 22 points per game versus the Colts, who were averaging close to 25 points since the start of Reich’s head coaching career in Indianapolis.
Despite the fact that two of the three wins were with Andrew Luck at quarterback, Jacoby Brissett has been successful in his career in beating the Texans. Brissett is undefeated against the Texans going 4-0 as a starter and defeated the Texans in Week 7 to extend Reich’s superior record over Houston.
Texans are going to have their hands full tonight against the Colts, but they will play at home in what will be a high stakes game for both sides. There is no better time for the Texans to get a win against Reich and the Colts than right now with playoffs on the line for both teams.
