Week 16: at Tampa Bay Buccaneers
This will be played on a Saturday, and the game between the Houston Texans and Tampa Bay Buccaneers will mightily test the secondary of the Texans.
The Buccaneers aren’t the best overall team in the NFL, and the don’t have the best quarterbacks on their roster, but what they do have are some very good wide receivers in Mike Evans and Chris Godwin.
The Buccaneers are third in the NFL in scoring per game at 28.9 and rank in the top 10 in yards gained per game (385.6) and passing yards per game (284.2) at seventh and fifth places, respectively.
Godwin leads the Buccaneers in receptions with 60 for 840 yards and six touchdowns entering Week 11, while Evans is next at 54 receptions for 924 yards, averaging 17.1 yards per reception, a team-best.
This duo will cause problems for the secondary of the Texans, and this could be a game the Texans struggle to stop the Buccaneers’ wide receivers depending on how the changes to the secondary have progressed for the Texans by the time Week 16 arrives.
Houston with Deshaun Watson at quarterback, and with DeAndre Hopkins and the rest of the wide receivers on the roster, have a big-time opportunity to lead the Texans to victory with the Buccaneers currently being last in the NFL in passing yards allowed per game at 298.9. The Texans are 12th in the league entering this weekend with 253.9 passing yards per game from Watson and Co., and they are fourth in the league in total yards gained per game at 396.7.
If the Texans are still playing at this level by the time Week 16 arrives, they will defeat the Buccaneers and help their cause of clinching a playoff spot for a second straight year.
