The signing of tight end Darren Fells has been one of the biggest revelations not only for the Houston Texans but to the entire league as he leads all the players at his position with six touchdown receptions. Fells has quickly become of Deshaun Watson’s favorite targets with 24 receptions, which rank third on the team only behind DeAndre Hopkins and Will Fuller.

Fells has been one of the main reasons for the Texans success in the red zone. His six touchdowns in the red zone lead the league and the Texans through the first nine games of the season. Another underrated impact Fells bring his ability to block defenders in the run game.

At 6’7, Fells can use his bigger frame against defensive backs and linebackers near the end zone. He is having a career year in production by having the highest number of touchdowns and receptions since playing with the Arizona Cardinals in 2015.

Fells has been one of the most impactful and underrated free-agent signings up to this point of the season. Meanwhile, McCarron hasn’t seen any action, and the hope is that it remains that way since he won’t see any playing time unless Watson is injured.
