There have been some good and bad surprises for the Houston Texans as they enter their 2019 bye week in Week 10.

How pleased or displeased have you been with the Houston Texans thus far through nine games of the ’19 season? Are you pleased with the 6-3 overall record after nine games? Are you happy with the Texans being in first place in the AFC South as they enter their bye week?

How about the Texans not being consistent on offense some games, or the unit having to battle from trailing in the fourth quarter? Though those games make for exciting endings in the final moments, should this offense be good enough to put teams away before the final drive?

Wide receivers have been up-and-down for the Texans this season, and has anyone seen Keke Coutee lately? Injuries to key players have been an unwelcome surprise for the Texans this season, one being the loss of J.J. Watt for the season following the game in Week 8.

On a more positive note, the play of Carlos Hyde has been a great surprise for the Texans. He replaced Lamar Miller at running back when Miller was injured in the preseason. Trading for Hyde was a big move for the Texans and one that shouldn’t go unnoticed as the Texans are in their bye week.

Also, don’t forget about the surprise that the offensive line that has had many issues this season — and all of last year — just might be playing better as of late when they are healthy and all on the same page.

Not a surprise is how well Deshaun Watson has played this season, because he’s not only the best player on the team, but he’s the leader of the Texans, and his play and actions have left no doubt about that.

Next are three surprises for the Texans thus far this season. Some are good surprises, and some are not that great, but overall they have been surprises for Houston as the bye week has arrived.
