The Houston Texans have added offensive tackle Dan Skipper to their active roster.

According to Mike Reiss of ESPN, the Houston Texans have signed offensive tackle Dan Skipper to their 53 man roster with right tackle Tytus Howard out for the next few games with a partially torn MCL in his knee. Skipper is entering his third season in the league after going undrafted in the 2017 NFL Draft. He signed with Dallas Cowboys after a successful tryout with other undrafted rookie free agents and was part of the Cowboys practice squad towards the start of the season.

Cowboys waived Skipper early in his rookie season, and he signed to the Detroit Lions’ practice squad. Skipper appeared for one game for the Lions before being waived and signing a future/reserve contract to remain in Detroit.

Skipper was waived towards the start of the 2018 season and signed for a short stint to be on the Denver Broncos practice squad. He signed with the New England Patriots practice squad as they made their run to win Super Bowl LIII.

Skipper was part of the Patriots 90 man roster ahead of the 2019 season and earned a spot on their practice squad for a consecutive season. Texans deciding to sign Skipper to the active roster makes sense as he will be entering a similar culture to the one that he was a part of in New England.
