3. Ka’imi Fairbairn misses 2 extra points

There was a 50-yard field goal made by Ka’imi Fairbairn that was impressive, but on the flip side, he missed two extra-point attempts, going 5-of-7 from there. One has to start asking if there is an issue with Fairbairn when it comes to his kicking game.

Fairbairn is 5-of-7 in field goals for the season, though granted, those two misses are from 50-plus yards. What is a little more concerning is he’s 14-of-17 in the extra-point attempts, leaving him at 82.4 percent on the season, with none of the PATs being blocked.

Maybe this is jumping the gun, but the Texans have to be concerned with the missed PATs, right? One day a PAT miss could really cost the Texans in a close game and could change how they play a certain late-game situation.

The reason that is brought up is because the Texans scoring 53 points in a game — plus winning by 21 points — is a rarity, as we all know the Texans play a lot of close games with outcomes of seven or fewer points.

This isn’t saying the Texans need to change kickers or anything like that, but the Texans do need to keep a close eye on Fairbairn and hope this doesn’t continue when games are much closer.
