The Houston Texans will be looking for their third win of the 2019 season as they’ll be hosting the Carolina Panthers on Sunday.

For the second time this season, the Houston Texans will be facing a reserve quarterback in a regular-season game, this time that quarterback being Kyle Allen of the Carolina Panthers, with the Texans hosting the Panthers this Sunday at noon.

The Panthers have more than just a backup quarterback as Cam Newton continues to heal, with the Panthers having one of the best all-around players in the game with Christian McCaffrey running the football. McCaffrey enters Week 4 averaging 5.4 yards per carry and 8.8 yards per reception as he has 59 rushes for 318 yards (three touchdowns) and 15 receptions for 132 yards this season.

This game for both the Texans and Panthers is huge with the Texans (2-1) needing to get the pass rush of J.J. Watt (two sacks) and Whitney Mercilus (four sacks) all over the young quarterback of Carolina, plus a win will put the Texans two games over the .500 mark one-fourth of the way through the season.

Carolina is 1-2 through the first three games of the season, and a win by them could put them in a tie for first place in the NFC South depending on how the rest of their division does this weekend with the New Orleans Saints leading the division at 2-1, while the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Atlanta Falcons are each 1-2 overall.

This has the makings of being a game the Texans should win if they are able to stop the Allen and McCaffrey duo, but that is always easier said than done. Though the Texans are a -4 favorite over the Panthers according to Bovada, the Texans have their work ahead of them as they continue to improve their play on a week-to-week basis as well.
