Though they had just allowed the Jacksonville Jaguars to score a touchdown and get within a point of tying the score, the defense of the Houston Texans didn’t hang their heads; rather, they buckled down and won the game.

The Jaguars elected for the two-point conversion rather than tie the score. That was a mistake by the away team Jacksonville because with the final line of defense, safety Justin Reid made the game-saving stop by slamming into Leonard Fournette and keeping him out of the end zone, allowing the Texans to keep the one-point lead.

For the game, there was also Charles Omenihu having a forced fumble, while Whitney Mercilus had two forced fumbles. J.J. Watt had a fumble recovery. The defense also added two passes defensed, and rookie Lonnie Johnson had one pass defensed.

Reid’s stop was a thing of beauty, and that play came at the exact moment the Texans needed it to happen. The Texans defense and especially Reid saved the day for the Texans, and not only bailed out themselves for allowing the late touchdown, but the offense too for only scoring one touchdown the entire game.
