The Houston Texans made a lot of moves when cutting their roster down to 53 players, but some players they’ll regret cutting more than others in 2019.

There were many important decisions made by Bill O’Brien and the Houston Texans over the last handful of days as they made four big trades on Saturday, cut the roster down to 53 players and added 10 players to their practice squad.

Now that the drama of the contract issues with Jadeveon Clowney are over with, and now that the Texans have a franchise left tackle in Laremy Tunsil to protect the blind side of franchise quarterback Deshaun Watson, it is time to look at some of the less outstanding decisions made by the Texans.

Every team in the NFL had to make decisions when it came to having their initial 53-man roster chosen for their franchise by the 4 p.m. ET deadline set by the NFL. The Texans were no different and went about their busy Saturday, made their roster cuts and moved on with their team.

That is fine, but some of the players who are no longer on either the 53-man roster, or even added to the practice squad, could come back to haunt the team as they missed out on some quality talent if given the proper time, and coaching, to work on their craft for the NFL.

One player who the Texans release — but were smart and re-signed to the practice squad — was undrafted rookie running back Karan Higdon Jr., who could eventually make his way to the official game day roster of the Texans.

That was a smart move by the Texans in adding him to the practice squad and keeping him in the franchise, because he does have some potential to help this team one day. There were others who could have done the same thing, but the Texans decided to look elsewhere.

Next are three players the Texans could regret cutting and not adding to the 53-man roster or even the practice squad for the 2019 season.
