Houston Texans have placed tight ends, Jordan Thomas and Kahale Warring on the injured reserve.
The Houston Texans have announced that they have placed tight ends, Jordan Thomas and Kahale Warring on the injured reserve. Thomas was expected to miss significant time after suffering cracked ribs against the Los Angeles Rams in their fourth and last preseason game. This is a piece of disappointing news for the second-year player from Mississipi State after he finished his rookie season with 20 receptions for 217 receiving yards and four touchdown receptions in 2018.
Thomas’ four touchdown receptions were tied for the most in franchise history for a rookie and was expected to have a bigger role with the departure of Ryan Griffin in the offseason. Thomas can be one of the two Texans players that can return to the active roster after spending the mandated eight weeks on the IR.
Meanwhile, Warring was placed on the IR after being in the concussion protocol for the past few weeks. He was a candidate to be placed on the IR after missing the majority of the preseason with the concussion and a previous hamstring injury.
Warring will likely redshirt his rookie season with the Texans as he acclimates to the NFL level. He was going to have a tough time to crack the rotation with Darren Fells, Jordan Akins, Jerell Adams, and Logan Paulsen all in front of him.
However, the Texans have high hopes for Warring after investing a third-round draft pick in him in the 2018 NFL Draft.
