Houston Texans make a flurry of roster moves ahead of Week 4 of the preseason
By Jair Lopez
The Houston Texans continue to a make roster moves prior to their fourth and final NFL preseason in 2019.
The Houston Texans have made several moves to their roster ahead of their final preseason game against the Los Angeles Rams in NRG Stadium. Texans placed reserve offensive tackle David Steinmetz on the injured reserve after breaking his ankle during practice and had season-ending surgery to repair it.
Steinmetz was a long shot to make the roster, but he could be a player the Texans want to keep around after adding him to their practice squad the season prior. Texans signed offensive tackle Christian DiLauro to their 90 man roster and could be suited up for the fourth and final preseason game.

Texans also announced that they have placed running back Lamar Miller on the IR after unfortunately leaving the first quarter of the game against the Dallas Cowboys due to a low hit. Miller suffered an ACL and MCL injury in his knee that will keep him sidelined for the final season in his contract that he signed when hit free agency.
Head coach Bill O’Brien and the front office will be tasked with finding a potential running back that is able to contribute in the Texans run game moving forward with the regular season just around the corner.
Texans waived cornerbacks Derrick Jones and second-year cornerback, Deante Burton. Jones was gone as fast he arrived after being signed last week, his stint was short-lived after being waived with an injury settlement.
Meanwhile, Burton was struggling to see playing time after missing practice and having other cornerbacks see more time on the field over him. Texans could very well not address the vacant roster spots as they work on trimming their team to the 53 players that are required to be on the roster by the NFL.
Texans have until the last day of August at 3 p.m. central time to have their roster ready for the regular season.
