Stud: J.J. Watt

It is good to see J.J. Watt back on the field and he played well for the time he was in the Week 3 preseason game for the Houston Texans against the Dallas Cowboys. Even with this being his preseason debut on Saturday, Watt looked ready to go, and ready to get back to where he was last season.

Watt had a tackle for loss in very little time on the field against the Dallas Cowboys, and gaining a tackle for loss against that offensive line isn’t easy, so that was a good outing for the past Defensive Player of the Year.

The tackle by Watt wasn’t a highlight reel tackle, but he did his job by getting inside the offensive tackle of the Cowboys and stopped running back Tony Pollard from gaining any positive yardage. That play also was the first play back on the field for the defense following a lost fumble by the Houston offense, so at least there was a positive with that play by Watt.

The Texans will need Watt more than ever this season, especially if Jadeveon Clowney doesn’t show up before Week 1 against the New Orleans Saints on Monday Night Football. Watt is a captain on this team for a reason, and it is evident he’s come prepared ready to play this upcoming season.
