Stud: Karan Higdon

The numbers of rookie running back Karan Higdon against the Dallas Cowboys don’t jump off the page, but he led the teams in rushing in the third game of the preseason with 13 carries for 28 yards.

Yes, Higdon only averaged 2.2 yards per carry, but he didn’t fumble the football, and he’s out there working to make a name for himself to earn a roster spot. Higdon has no other choice but to keep grinding and making people know his name as an undrafted rookie free agent signing.

In three preseason games, Higdon has 28 rushing attempts for 78 yards and no touchdowns. He rushed for 37 yards (eight carries) in the preseason opener against the Green Bay Packers, and 13 yards on seven carries vs. the Detroit Lions.

It is tough to tell if Higdon will make the roster, but with Lamar Miller being injured in this game, it is most likely another roster spot has opened on the running back depth chart, unless the Texans make another move with a trade or free agent signing.

As for Higdon this week, on an offense that didn’t play well at all on Saturday night he did what he could. He was one of the better players on the Texans stat sheet, but that too isn’t much to brag about following the performance of the Texans in this preseason game.
