Houston Texans claim defensive end Tracy Sprinkle off waivers from the Cleveland Browns.

The Houston Texans have had a couple of busy days after their first narrow defeat against the Green Bay Packers, 28-26. Texans claimed defensive end Tracy Sprinkle from the Cleveland Browns, and he will be joining running back Duke Johnson who was acquired via trade for a conditional future fourth-round pick from the Browns.

To make room for the addition of Sprinkle, the Texans announced they waived-injured outside linebacker, Chris Landrum. It made sense to address their depth at the defensive line after recently waiving injured defensive lineman, Iris Savage-Lewis.

Texans have struggled with injuries with J.J. Watt, Carlos Watkins, and D.J. Reader not available to practice according to Aaron Wilson of the Houston Chronicle. Sprinkle joins his fourth team with the Texans after going undrafted in the 2018 NFL Draft from Ohio State. He has been with the Carolina Panthers, Kansas City Chiefs, Browns, and now the Texans.

Sprinkle also played for the Atlanta Legends in the American Alliance of Football for a brief time before it was shut down. He had 11 tackles and five sacks in his short stint in the AAF. Although it is a long shot to make the Texans roster, Sprinkle has the opportunity to earn a roster spot on their ten-man practice squad.

Texans currently have Angelo Blackson, Brandon Dunn, Johnny Dwight, Javi Edwards, Joel Heath, Albert Huggins, Charles Omenihu, Walter Palmore, and Sprinkle available for their second preseason game against the Detroit Lions.
