Stud: Damarea Crockett

One player on the Houston Texans roster who is working to stay on that list is rookie running back Damarea Crockett, and on Thursday night he took another step to stay in that position. Crockett in his NFL debut finished with six carries for 24 yards, including one run of 12 yards, plus he scored a touchdown on a 1-yard rush.

Crockett could be the third running back on the Texans roster after they released D’Onta Foreman earlier this week. Crockett is currently behind the starter in Lamar Miller, and it was reported the Texans on Thursday traded a fourth-round draft pick to the Cleveland Browns for Duke Johnson.

Crockett did well for himself against the Green Bay Packers with his handful of rushes, showing he is capable of carrying the football in the NFL as he averaged four yards per carry on Thursday.

Aaron Wilson of the Houston Chronicle quoted Crockett following the preseason opener in Green Bay:

"“Just going to work hard every day, I want to be a teammate where my teammates can say: ‘I can trust that guy.’ I want to build trust with my teammates.”"

Crockett seems like he has a solid future in the NFL, and with how he played on just six carries against the Packers, the rest of the preseason should be exciting to watch to see how many more steps forward the running back takes with this franchise.
