There was some good and bad from the Houston Texans in their preseason opener on Thursday night against the Green Bay Packers.

The Houston Texans were finally back on the field with the preseason opener taking place Thursday night, and even though they lost by a 28-26 score to the Green bay Packers at Lambeau Field, at least some young players got their first glimpse of pro football.

The stars didn’t play in the first preseason game of the season, as the likes of Deshaun Watson, Will Fuller, J.J. Watt, DeAndre Hopkins, Lamar Miller and Jadeveon Clowney did not play. It was a good time to see some of the younger faces on the team take part in a game day atmosphere.

It was good to see exactly what Joe Webb can do as a starting quarterback as he played with an offense that wasn’t up to par as to what will be on the field this upcoming season, but if Webb makes the roster and is ever called upon, we now know exactly what could happen.

The Texans also made too many mistakes when it came to keeping ahold of the football, and to be honest, that is setting a bad precedent. Some of the turnovers or fumble issues could really cost the Texans points in a regular-season game, which is exactly what happened to the Texans on Thursday against Green Bay because the Packers took advantage of the easy field position or even scored points off the fumbles.

All in all, the first preseason game is now in the books, and though the Texans didn’t have their big-time stars on the field, the team did show some fight with a strong fourth quarter, though the third quarter was very forgettable and hopefully that doesn’t occur when the games really matter.

Listed next are the studs and duds for the Texans following Week 1 of the preseason.
