Houston Texans sign free agent running back and special teams contributor, Taiwan Jones, to their 90 man roster.

Houston Texans are signing running back Taiwan Jones according to his agent, Doug Hendrickson. Jones is joining his third team since being drafted by the Oakland Raiders in the fourth round of the 2011 NFL Draft. Jones spent his first six seasons with the Raiders before being released and signing with the Buffalo Bills in 2017.

He spent the next two seasons with the Bills, contributing mainly on special teams and was elected as one of the team captains in the locker room. Jones will join a Texans running back group that has Lamar Miller, D’Onta Foreman, Gregory Howell, Josh Ferguson, Karan Higdon, and Damarea Crockett. He has the opportunity to make the final roster as the Texans are looking for another ball carrier behind Miller and Foreman.

Jones had 183 rushing yards on 44 carries, and 18 receptions for 251 receiving yards on offense. On special teams, he has 38 tackles and averaged 23 return yards on 82 kickoff attempts. His versatility and familiarity with the front office and coaching staff will allow him to enter the race for a spot in the Texans’ running backs’ room.
