Austin Exford, safety (Appalachian State): Playing in the Sun Belt Conference, Exford played defensive back for Appalachian State for four seasons, playing in 34 games, with three seasons of nine or more starts. This past season, Exford played in 13 games, where he had one fumble recovery, plus he added 50 tackles, 3.5 tackles for loss and one interception. At his Pro Day, he ran a 4.48 40-yard dash.

Karan Higdon, running back (Michigan): For three of his four seasons at Michigan, Karan Higdon played in no less than 11 games, and this past season he rushed for 1,178 yards on 224 carries. He also rushed for 5.3 yards per carry and rushed for seven touchdowns. Higdon also has seven receptions for 43 yards. NFL.com had Higdon as a sixth-round projection, so for the Texans to get Higdon is a big gain for the roster as he did run a 4.49 yard dash in the pre-draft workouts.

Albert Huggins, defensive line (Clemson): Huggins showed great strength at the NFL Combine with 35 reps of 225 pounds, and he was a seventh-round draft projection. While at Clemson in his final season, Huggins played in 12 games, where he totaled 22 tackles (16 solo) with 3.5 tackles for loss and 2.5 sacks.

Chris Johnson, safety (North Alabama): Johnson in his final season with North Alabama had 38 total tackles (24 solo) with two interceptions and four passes defensed. In 2017, Johnson totaled 50 tackles, nine passes defensed and six interceptions.
