Houston Texans: A closer look at signed undrafted rookie free agents
The 2019 NFL Draft is complete, but the work isn’t done for the Houston Texans as signing undrafted rookie free agents is as important as the draft itself.
The Houston Texans drafted well for need, and as their picks showed in the 2019 NFL Draft, filled needs that won’t pop back up anytime soon. Even with the draft being seven rounds, there are still players remaining who weren’t drafted, players who could help bring huge success to a franchise, and that is what the Texans are hoping to accomplish with players they’ve signed off the rookie free agent market.
On the CBS Sports undrafted free agent tracker, they have the Houston Texans signing 20 players to the offseason roster, including 13 defensive players and seven offensive players to see if there are any players who can earn a roster spot or a spot on the practice squad for the upcoming 2019 NFL season.

The Texans have had success before in the undrafted rookie free agent signings as the best running back in franchise history, Arian Foster, went undrafted. Foster went on to play seven seasons with the Texans, rushing for 6,472 yards and 54 touchdowns with the franchise. He also went on to be selected to four Pro Bowls and was a first-team All-Pro in 2010 as he rushed for over 1,200 yards in a season four different times.
The success of finding a player as productive as Foster was in the undrafted rookie free agent list is tough, but it does show it’s important not to overlook any of the signings.
Here is a look at each of the 20 rookie free agent signings the Texans have made as they are listed in alphabetical order.
