The Houston Texans are in dire need of improvement on the offensive line as they have the 23rd overall selection in the 2019 NFL Draft.
In the latest 2019 NFL Mock Draft by FanSided.com, the Houston Texans with the 23rd overall selection are drafting offensive line, which is a very smart choice by the franchise as they look to protect quarterback Deshaun Watson better this season.
Matt Verderame of FanSided.com in his mock draft has the Texans selecting offensive tackle Cody Ford with the 23rd overall pick out of Oklahoma. The mock draft by Verderame says the following on Ford being drafted by the Texans:

Like has been said many times, the Texans do need improvement on the offensive line and there are plenty of quality offensive linemen for the Texans to select from in the first round.
Some have made a case for the Texans to select a cornerback in the first round, but when it comes down to making the final decision, drafting an offensive tackle is the smarter move for the Texans to make if one of the top tackles are still available at 23rd overall.
In the NFL.com draft profile by Lance Zierlein, Ford not only has a NFL comparison to Brandon Brooks, but he does receive an overview of his abilities at the tackle position as there is some improvement that is needed.
"“Ford offers a rare combination of physical and athletic traits that will have NFL teams dreaming of his upside. He is raw and relatively inexperienced as a starting tackle with exploitable holes that will need to be patched before he can thrive in the pros.”"
The Texans need to do their homework and not swing and miss with this first round pick because improving the offensive line is a must if the Texans want to be competitive for a second straight year. Plus, it is not only about being competitive, but the Texans need to give Watson the proper protection for him to be even more successful than he was this past season.
We all know the Texans need a cornerback from this draft too, but that can be secured in the second round, and the top focus for this franchise needs to be offensive line because if they don’t draft one of these top franchise changing offensive linemen then it could make for another rushed season for Watson and Co. on offense.
