2. Week 13 vs. New England Patriots

Finally, a home game on this Top 5 list for the Houston Texans when it comes to the most important games of the upcoming season, though the problem is they will be hosting the New England Patriots on Sunday Night Football.

The Texans have had problems when facing the Patriots in their entire history being 1-10 overall against the six-time Super Bowl champions, with the lone win against New England occurring on Jan. 3, 2010. Since then, the Texans have lost eight straight times when facing the Patriots.

During the past two seasons, the Texans’ losses to the Patriots have been close on the scoreboard as they lost in 2017 by a 36-33 score and by a 27-20 score in Week 1 last season.

In that loss, the Texans saw Deshaun Watson go 17-of-34 for 176 yards with one touchdown and one interception as he was playing in his first game back from an ACL injury from the previous season. Watson also rushed for 40 yards on eight carries and was sacked three times.

In this Week 13 game, it will of utmost importance for the Texans to finally get over the mountain that is the Patriots if they ever want to be considered as a true contender in the AFC, because eventually, if the Texans are the team they can be, New England will be in their way during the AFC Playoffs.
