The Houston Texans have two picks in the second round of the 2019 NFL Draft and one of those picks could be a cornerback that will help the franchise for years to come.

Here is the thing with the Houston Texans and the 2019 NFL Draft, and that is they are still in need of help with their secondary, especially at cornerback, when it comes to the longterm. With that said, the Texans have three picks within the first overall 55 picks of the draft this coming April, where they can repair the cornerback position.

If the Texans select an offensive tackle (or any other position in the first round other than cornerback), that should mean once the second round picks of 54th and 55th overall roll around, the smart money would seem to be the Texans will be selecting a cornerback with one of those second round draft picks.

This offseason the Texans allowed veteran Kareem Jackson to sign elsewhere in free agency as the Texans are rebuilding their secondary. They’ve signed Bradley Roby via free agency and Roby will fit in well with the Texans for the 2019 season.

Roby is coming off a season with the Denver Broncos where he played in 15 games (all starts) and totaled 50 tackles, 12 passes defensed, two forced fumbles, one interception and one tackle for loss.

For the upcoming 2019 NFL Draft, the Texans can pass on a cornerback in the first round at No. 23 (as there are great issues at left tackle that need focus as well) and look to selecting one with either the 54th or 55th overall selection, which would be the smart thing to do. There should be some talented cornerbacks available in the second round, and here are three cornerbacks the Texans should really take a close look at to join the 2019 roster via the NFL Draft.
