Round 3: (No. 86) Connor McGovern, OG, Penn State

With concerns across the offensive line, the Houston Texans should target offensive guard Connor McGovern in the third round of the 2019 NFL Draft. If Houston drafts McGovern to pair with Cody Ford, it could help to solidify one half of Houston’s line for the next decade to come, which is a great thing to go with franchise quarterback Deshaun Watson.

According to Pro Football Focus, McGovern is ranked as the No. 15 guard in the run game this past season. Pairing him with Ford on the same side of the line could help Ford develop against the run, rounding out the same and helping to make him a more complete player.

Throughout his time at Penn State as a member of the Nittany Lions, McGovern was also used as a center, adding to his potential versatility on the line.

McGovern was routinely used at the right guard position, possessing great explosiveness off the ball and excels at staying engaged with blockers, this is also a potential weakness of his as he gets tunnel vision at times.

The Texans need to revamp their offensive line, so a second offensive lineman selected within the first four picks could actually happen.
