De’Mornay Pierson-El, WR, Salt Lake Stallions

Week 3 stats: 9 catches, 92 yards, 1 touchdown

The speedy De’Mornay Pierson-El has come out of nowhere in recent weeks to establish himself as the go-to target of the Salt Lake Stallions of the AAF. The 5-9 Pierson-El is electric at wide receiver to say the least. He was able to generate most of his yards after the catch — 62 out of his 93 yards came after he caught the ball in Week 3 against Arizona.

Pierson-El was targeted nine times and caught all nine of those targets, and he finished the day with a touchdown to boot. Pierson-El’s perfect catch percentage, yards, touchdown and yards after the catch ability helped him earn the second highest Pro Football Focus grade of Week 3, with a 90.6 in AAF play.

Pierson-El is a sharp route runner especially in the short/horizontal area of the field. He’s a slot receiver through-and-through and adds versatility as a return man which the Texans could use more of as well.

For the Texans, taking a look at a player that can potentially help the teams depth at slot receiver is never a bad thing because if you remember they had some injury issues all last season at wide receiver. It’s also something that the 23-year-old Pierson-El can do himself and if the Texans are smart they will be watching Pierson-El closely.
