2. Spencer Ware

Spencer Ware is an interesting player in free agency as he not played an entire season at any point of his four NFL seasons, the past three with the Kansas City Chiefs. Ware in 2018 totaled 51 carried for 246 yards and 4.8 yards per carry.

Also in ’18 Ware played in just 13 games and in his rushing stats included two touchdowns with a season-long rush of 34 yards. Even better yet Ware had no fumbles.

Ware — who is 27-years old — in catching the football had 20 receptions (23 targets) for 224 yards, averaging 11.2 yards per reception with no touchdowns. Nine of his receptions went for first downs and his longest reception in ’18 went for 31 yards.

Ware’s best receiving season and best overall season was 2017 where he caught 33 passes for 447 yards with two touchdowns. That season he also rushed for 921 yards on 214 carried (4.3 yards per carry) with three rushing touchdowns.

While with the Chiefs, Ware has proven he’s able to carry a good load of the carries, but he’ll need help to carry the entire load of carries for the fact he hasn’t played a full regular season carry as of yet in his career. Ware could be an excellent addition for the Texans rushing game rotation, even if the Texans keep Miller and Foreman.

The trio of Miller, Ware and Foreman could keep some of the hits off quarterback Deshaun Watson and that is of great or even greatest importance this upcoming season. Remember, Watson rushed for 551 yards on 99 carries in 2018, so cutting down on some of those rushes should be on the offseason list of to-do’s.

Ware would bring some stability to the Texans offense, stop Watson from rushing the ball as much as he has, and maybe take the offense to the next level which needs to occur in 2019.
