Top 5 free agents the Houston Texans could sign at offensive tackle in 2019
By Avery Duncan
1. Ty Nsekhe, OT, Washington Redskins
Despite being 33 years old, the former Texas State swing tackle should be able to garner interest from offensive tackle-needy teams in free agency due to being one of the best second stringers in the NFL during his time with the Washington Redskins.
In 2018 alone, Ty Nsekhe finished his year with a Pro Football Focus grade of 67.8, which is good for 43rd in the NFL amongst all tackles. Yet, Nsekhe is much more than his grade, as he was able to fill in across the Redskins line (other than center), and more importantly, do it well. Although, his 6-8, 325-pound frame is surely better suited to play tackle.
Texans general manager Brian Gaine has emphasized versatility along the offensive line — Nsekhe’s bread and butter. He wouldn’t be the long-term solution to their problem, but he could serve as a solid stopgap anywhere alongside the Texans line in either a starting or bench capacity.
