5. Daryl Williams, RT, Carolina Panthers

The value of Daryl Williams can be viewed as all over the place for just two reasons. First, he played in just 56 snaps in 2018 before being placed on IR. The second reason is his best season (2017) was his only full one. Although he was outstanding in 2017, as Williams finished the year as Pro Football Focus‘ third-best right tackle, as he finished in the Top 10 in both pass and run blocking.

Due to his history, Williams might not get the big money he wants and deserves. The Carolina Panthers are less likely to pay him because of his history and his replacement Taylor Moton, who performed well in Williams’ absence. For the Texans, that is music to their ears as they can not only afford to take on the 26-year old Williams, but they also need him desperately.

Williams is exactly what the Texans dream of at right tackle. Not only could he provide the team with consistent play at the position, but his young age indicates that he would be able to do so for a very long time.

He has good size for the position at 6-5 and 335 pounds, and although he has injury concerns, no free agent is perfect. He’s shown that he can be among the best in the NFL, which makes Williams the premier right tackle free agent alongside the next player.
