The are a handful of big-time NFL free agents who are on the market, but it is in the best interest of the Houston Texans to stay away from them this offseason.

The Houston Texans are well aware of how a bad free agent signing could affect the team now and in the foreseeable future. Brock Osweiler is an excellent example of such a bad free agent signing from the Texans. After all, it took the Texans a second round pick that turned into Nick Chubb to get rid of him. Luckily, the Texans won’t be in the market for a quarterback this 2019 offseason, but that doesn’t mean they can easily avoid a free agency bust.

More from Houston Texans News

Last year, the Texans avoided a free agent bust — through 2018 — by dropping out of the race to gain former New England Patriots left tackle Nate Solder, who under performed with the New York Giants after getting a massive contract from them.

Though there are players the Texans need to stay away from all costs, remember they are looking to improve their roster following winning the AFC South championship and having 11 victories before losing in the AFC WIld Card game to the Indianapolis Colts.

Next are five examples of players that the Texans should stay away from unless of course, they sign them on one-year, low-risk, high-reward deals. That scenario is possible for the Texans considering their abundance of cap space, which sits at nearly $78 million before extensions and cuts, per Over The Cap.
