Let’s stay in Arizona and take a look at 29-year old Patrick Peterson and how he could make the cornerback spot of the Texans improved over last season. The Texans simply had their issues when it came to facing the Indianapolis Colts this past season and that is a huge problem. Houston just won the AFC South championship with an 11-5 record in the regular season. They split the regular season series against Indy and lost to them in the Wild Card playoffs which put a damper on a strange season.

The Texans have a chance to compete right now at a high level in the NFL, but is it worth trading a first-or-second round pick to Arizona for a player with the great abilities that Peterson? Remember, Peterson does have the abilities to potentially slow down the great duo of Andrew Luck to T.Y. Hilton.

Peterson has two years left on his current contract where he’s scheduled to be paid $11 million in 2019 and $12.05 million in 2020. The cornerback was ranked fifth at cornerback this past season by Pro Football Focus with a grade of 82.5, and in the past, Peterson has been apart of various trade rumors, including this past trade deadline.

Trading a second-or-third round pick for Peterson wouldn’t be a bad idea for the Texans Draft picks are very valuable, though it could take a first round pick for Peterson as well.

On the other hand, it is tough to find a player with the abilities and respect Peterson has in the NFL. Not only that, but Peterson would instantly make the secondary of the Texans backfield stronger than it was this past season, coming off a season where he had five passes defensed, a fumble recovery and one sack.
