The Houston Texans have the 23rd overall pick in the 2019 NFL Draft, but are there already players in the NFL who are worth trading that pick for?

The Houston Texans are in a good situation for the upcoming 2019 NFL Draft this upcoming April as they are the holders of the 23rd overall selection, and even more so they have the a few options to choose from as they can pick an offensive lineman, a cornerback, trade up in the draft, trade back in the draft or possibly trade their first round pick for a player who is already in the NFL.

What if, and that is a big “What If” the Texans were to look into making a trade for a player who could become a game changer instantly from Day 1 on the roster, and even more so, get a very high quality player already making their mark in the NFL?

Teams from around the league did that during the 2018 season and it worked out well for them, including the Chicago Bears with Khalil Mack (two firsts, two thirds and a sixth rounder) and the Dallas Cowboys did so with Amari Cooper during the regular season.

Both of those trades for first round picks made a huge difference in their seasons by trading for already high-quality and proven NFL players, better players than they would have selected in the upcoming draft.

Is that a route that the Texans could take as they are in desperate need of a franchise left tackle to protect quarterback Deshaun Watson, or a more impactful cornerback who is already a game changer?

The Texans could also not trade a first round pick, but still are holders of two second round selections and picks in all but the fourth round of the 2019 NFL Draft. It is possible if they really want a player with NFL experience for the upcoming season, and not have to wait-and-see what they draft, a trade of one of those picks could be a nice option as well.

Next are a handful of options the Texans have as the 2019 NFL Draft continues to near, and here are a few players that could be worth trading a first round or a draft pick in general for this offseason.
