After an up-and-down 11-5 regular season capped by a disappointing home Wild Card loss, the Houston Texans have a base to build on for the future but have an important offseason ahead of them.
The Houston Texans need to make re-signing Jadeveon Clowney, Tyrann Mathieu (or Kareem Jackson), Ka’imi Fairbairn and Christian Covington priorities as each were vital to the team’s success in their own respective ways.
Deshaun Watson, DeAndre Hopkins and J.J. Watt make up an excellent nucleus, but the Texans could add depth across the board, plus patch some holes while they’re at it.

Watson was sacked 62 times during the 2018 regular season, therefore bolstering the offensive line will be the top priority before they let pass rushers break their franchise quarterback. Unfortunately for the Texans, the 2019 offensive line free agent class isn’t deep, and is filled with expensive flight risks at the top of the pool such as New England Patriots left tackle Trent Brown and his inability to cover speed rushers consistently.
The Texans cornerback group also is a position of need. The starters from the 2018 season for for the Texans included Johnathan Joseph and Kareem Jackson who are close to retirement and are best suited for safety.
Like the offensive linemen, the free agent cornerback group isn’t deep either with transcendent star talent, meaning the team will surely have to find some under the radar players at the position.
Listed are 10 free agents the Texans could target, players who are currently under-the-radar and could fit in well with the current talented players already on the Houston roster.
