Jhurell Pressley, RB, Arizona Hotshots

Week 1 stats: 18 carries, 64 yards, 2 targets, 1 reception, 30 receiving yards, 1 touchdown, 2 two-point conversions

While watching the Hotshots vs. Stallions game, I couldn’t help but think that the 26-year old Jhurell Pressley, a former player for the Minnesota Vikings, Green Bay Packers, Atlanta Falcons, Jacksonville Jaguars and the New York Giants reminded me of incumbent Houston Texans running back Lamar Miller. Both are the same height (5-10) and happen to wear the same number of 26.

More impressively, Pressley’s game is eerily similar to Miller’s. His best trait is his elusiveness and fluid hips, while he does offer some speed to boot. Pressley also showed a willingness to run up the A-gaps for tough yardage and was able to get a big-time touchdown on a well-run wheel route for 30 yards. His Pro Football Focus grade for the game was 75.7, which is the best of all running backs through the first week of games.

Pressley will need to add some weight to his 205-pound frame if he wants to get a look by the Texans, but his similar skill set to their current play style of running back is intriguing. If Pressley is able to show that he can run up the middle consistently through the 10-week season, I wouldn’t be surprised to see the Texans give him a look.
