Houston Texans: Face Super Bowl 53 champion New England Patriots in 2019
The Houston Texans will have the Super Bowl 53 champion New England Patriots on their schedule for the 2019 NFL season.
Like it or not, the New England Patriots are the Super Bowl 53 champions, and for the sixth time in franchise history they were able to hoist the Vince Lombardi Trophy, tying with the Pittsburgh Steelers for the most Super Bowl championships of all time.
How does this involve the Houston Texans? Well, the Texans not only lost to the Patriots this season by a 27-20 score in Week 1 — including scoring two touchdowns in the second half against the eventual champions — but the Patriots are on the 2019 schedule of the Texans, too.

Since the Texans were the 2018 AFC South champions, they get to face the AFC East champion in 2019, which happens to be the Patriots, who won Super Bowl 53 by a 13-3 score over the Los Angeles Rams.
In Super Bowl 53, Tom Brady was 21-of-35 for 262 yards, no touchdowns and one interception. Julian Edelman was the Super Bowl 53 MVP with 10 receptions for 141 yards. Defensively, the Patriots sacked Rams quarterback Jared Goff four times.
All-time, the Texans have struggled against the Patriots, as Houston is 1-10 in their games against the Patriots with the only win coming in 2010 by a 34-27 score in Houston. Of the 10 losses to the Patriots, two of them came in the playoffs for the 2012 (41-28) and 2016 (34-16) seasons.
Looking at how the Texans have played against the Patriots in the past, the future looks bleak for the Houston squad whenever they face the Patriots next season, but New England is the standard all NFL teams should be compared to, and their level of success is what all teams should strive for.
