The Houston Texans are one of the teams involved in the NFL international games in 2019.
The Houston Texans are one of the ten teams that will partake in the annual international games that the NFL hosts outside the United States’ market. The Texans will play in England as they will travel to London to compete against AFC South rivals, the Jacksonville Jaguars. Texans PR announced it on their official Twitter page.
The Jaguars regularly take part in the NFL international games that take place London as the team’s owner Shahid Khan has business ties in England and is the current owner of the English Premier League Football team, Fulham F.C. This will be the first game the Texans will play in England and the second game they play outside the U.S. In the 2016 season, Texans played against the Oakland Raiders in Mexico in the iconic Estadio Azteca for the first time in NFL history.
Texans ended up losing 27-20 to the Raiders in what turned out to be a controversial competitive game where fans showed strong hostility towards the Texans and referees made questionable calls throughout the game that turned out to be headliners after the game. It is still be determined whether the game will take place in Wembley Stadium or Tottenham Hotspur’s new stadium.
The Jaguars will be playing their seventh NFL international game and currently have a record of 3-3 in their first six games overseas. Fans across the pond will be able to potentially see NFL stars like J.J. Watt, DeAndre Hopkins, Deshaun Watson take center stage and display their talents in London.
