Round 2 (from Seattle Seahawks): Amani Oruwariye, CB, Penn State

The Houston Texans need to add not only depth to their defensive backfield, but they need to just get better at cornerback. This is a very good spot in the 2019 NFL Draft to fix what ails them, and that could be drafting Amani Oruwariye of Penn State.

Oruwariye stands at 6-1 and weighs in at 203 pounds, and not only that, he played all four years at PSU, giving him the full experience of working on his craft while playing in the Big Ten. Oruwariye is coming off a season where he had three interceptions, with those being against Appalachian State, Pittsburgh and Wisconsin.

For his collegiate career, Oruwariye played in 37 games with 70 solo tackles and a total of 104 tackles overall. He also collected eight interceptions in four seasons at Penn State and totaled 20 passes defensed, including 11 of those this past season.

Nick Farabaugh of Behind the Steel Curtain had this to say of Oruwariye after studying film:

"“Oruwariye’s length shows up all over his film in good ways, and never really in bad ways. It is not just how long his arms, but how long his strides are too.”"

The Texans really need to look to gain a big and physical cornerback in this draft, and possibly having a 6-1 cornerback like Oruwariye available in the second round could be big for this team.

The Texans’ secondary could have a whole new look next season if changes are made and free agents go elsewhere. Drafting Oruwariye is a step in the right direction in making the secondary improved over this past season.
