Round 1: Cody Ford, OT, Oklahoma

According to Pro Football Focus, not one of the three current offensive tackles on the roster of the Houston Texans graded higher than a 64.7 for the season, plus the Texans’ offensive line allowed quarterback Deshaun Watson to be sacked 62 times this season. It is very evident the Texans need to add to their offensive line.

That said, having the 23rd overall pick, the Texans should take a good look at Oklahoma Sooners offensive tackle Cody Ford. The OT from the Sooners is 6-4, 330 pounds and is on the radar of many in the NFL. The Texans most likely would have to trade up if they want to get this strong offensive tackle on their side to protect Watson, plus the better the tackle, the better the rushing game, too.

The Texans didn’t have a single offensive tackle grade above 65 by Pro Football Focus (out of a 100 scale all season), and a draft pick would sure make the competitiveness better between the likes of Kendall Lamm, Julie’n Davenport, Martinas Rankin and Seantrel Henderson this offseason.

Something must be done by the Texans early in the draft to add to their offensive line.

If they really want to make a splash and show they are drafting to make the offense better, then they need to stay away from defensive back in Round 1 and take an offensive tackle in the first round.
