Jadeveon Clowney

Signing Jadeveon Clowney to a contract extension is a no brainer move for the Houston Texans. General manager Brian Gaine and the coaching staff think highly of him in his five seasons he’s been in the organization. Clowney has lived up to expectations as the number one pick in the 2014 NFL Draft and was the right decision over the quarterbacks that were drafted in the first round such as the Blake Bortles, Johnny Manziel, and Teddy Bridgewater.

Clowney has improved in every season he has played, and he has provided the defense with another defender capable of rushing the quarterback and stopping the run. He has played in 62 of the total 80 games in the regular season, he has only missed six games since missing the majority of his rookie season when missed 12 games due to a knee injury.

Clowney has been a game wrecker for opposing offenses, he has 205 combined tackles, 29 sacks, 64 tackles for loss, 67 quarterback hits, 11 passes defended, four forced fumbles, six fumble recoveries, and two defensive touchdowns through his first five seasons in the league.

At 25 years of age, he is two years younger than Aaron Donald and Khalil Mack yet he has played at a similar level as those defenders. From Clowney’s statistical impact to what he has shown on film, he has earned every dollar in his upcoming contract.
