Takeaways from Houston Texans Week 16 injury report

The Houston Texans released their injury report and game status report for Week 16.

The Houston Texans will travel to Lincoln Financial Field to play the Philadelphia Eagles in Week 16. The Texans need to continue to win to stay in the top two seeds and secure a playoff bye in the wild card round during the postseason. Texans PR announced on their official Twitter account that rotational defensive back and core special teamer Mike Tyson is ruled out for the game with a concussion. Cornerback Johnathan Joseph and left guard Senio Kelemete did not practice on Friday due to an illness and are questionable with their respective injuries. Joseph is dealing with a hip injury meanwhile Kelemete has been managing his elbow and rib injuries.

Wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins,  running back Lamar Miller, and nose tackle Brandon Dunn are all questionable for the game with ankle injuries. Rookie wide receiver Keke Coutee has been limited in practice with a hamstring injury, he has been dealing with these soft tissues injuries since the preseason, and he will be a game-time decision against the Eagles. Safety Andre Hal was also limited in practice with an ankle injury.

Inside linebacker Dylan Cole, defensive end J.J. Watt, offensive lineman Greg Mancz, and defensive back Kareem Jackson were all listed in the injury report with knee injuries but they were full participants in practice. Quarterback Brandon Weeden was a full participant in practice after dealing with an illness earlier in the week. Right guard Zach Fulton has been dealing with a hand injury, but he has participated fully in practice.

Special teamer and linebacker Brian Peters was listed again this week with an ankle injury but he has been a full participant in practice. Rookie safety Justin Reid has been dealing with wrist and shoulder injury but is expected to be ready to go.

Running back D’Onta Foreman could see his first snaps in the 2018 season with Miller’s ankle injury. The Texans are also expected to make a corresponding move after waiving wide receiver Sammie Coates earlier this week, the team currently has 52 players on the roster.
