Houston Texans Daily Roundup: D’onta Foreman and running back depth
Running back depth for the Houston Texans is key from here on out, and that means D’Onta Foreman has become of great importance in the final stages of the regular season.
Houston Texans fans know how good he is, and so does the team itself, but now it is time possibly, that running back D’Onta Foreman is able to showcase his skills this weekend, and from here on out, as the Texans need to focus on getting the rushing game back in order.
Foreman has yet to play a single down this season as he was just recently activated to play in games and to practice after recovering from an torn Achilles last season. Foreman has a good opportunity to return to the lineup as current starting running back Lamar Miller has an ankle issue and that could hamper him for future games, including this Sunday at the Philadelphia Eagles.

On Wednesday, in the Texans official injury report it stated Miller was limited in practice with an ankle injury so this is something to keep an eye on for sure as the week continues.
Miller has 917 yards on 193 carries with four touchdowns this season, so if his ankle injury does slow him down or keep him out of the game, that is a huge loss for the Texans. Blue, the more physical back of the Texans and has rushed for 473 yards on 143 carries with two touchdowns this season.
From 2017 season, Foreman, as a rookie, rushed for 327 yards on 78 carries with two touchdowns in 10 games.
The Texans have talent at running back, and if Miller is able to play, that’s great, but it is good to know Foreman is all but ready to take the field and provide yardage and a spark to the offense that has hit a slow spot as of late. At this point of the season, adding a running back like Foreman to the mix is the stuff potential championships are made of.
Here is a look at headlines for Thursday.
• John Newby of 247Sports.com wrote about playoff clinching scenarios for the Texans this Sunday as the easiest way is to just defeat the Eagles in Week 16. Newby wrote the following about the ways to make the playoffs:
"“The Texans can lock up the AFC South by defeating the Eagles at home, which is the clearest path.”"
There are other ways for the Texans to make the playoffs and clinch the AFC South title as well, including one where the Texans lose. That all fine and dandy, but if the Texans want to show they are for real once they make the playoffs, a win against the reigning Super Bowl champions to clinch the AFC South title is a great way to prove they are for real this season.
• Mike Sielski of Philly.com wrote about it is “all hands on deck” when it come to defending DeAndre Hopkins this Sunday in Week 16, writing the following about the matchup:
"“Watson could walk to the line of scrimmage Sunday, yell out to the Eagles’ 11 defensive players, “HEY, GUYS, I’M THROWING IT TO DEANDRE ON THIS PLAY,” and still have a decent chance of completing the pass.”"
This article just shows everyone the respect that much be given to Hopkins in each and every game (and how great he is), and even if he is being defensed by the best, Hopkins is more than skilled enough to win the battle of any potential matchup. In my personal opinion, the game will come down to how well the duo of Deshaun Watson and Hopkins can connect and disrupt the Eagles defense. If that happens, the Houston offense can get rolling in other aspects of their game.
