The Houston Texans are in the position to rebound following their loss last Sunday as a game on Saturday against the New York Jets awaits.

It is almost time for the Houston Texans to take the field for the first time since their nine-game winning streak was snapped by the Indianapolis Colts last Sunday. The Texans will be playing on short rest with a Saturday afternoon game against the New York Jets next on the schedule for Week 15.

That said, even though the Jets are 4-9 overall the Texans (9-4) can’t afford to overlook the opponent. Even with a two-game lead in the AFC South with three games left in the regular season, the Texans really could use their 10th win of the season this Saturday to make things a little more comfortable during the final two weeks of the season.

As game day continues to near, here is a look at what media members are reporting about the Texans headed into Week 15.

Aaron Wilson of the Houston Chronicle wrote in a recent article about how Tyrann Mathieu was recruited by the Jets this offseason before he signed with the Texans during free agency. The article by Wilson stated:

"“Fellow former LSU standout Jamal Adams tried to convince Mathieu to join him in the Jets’ secondary. Ultimately, Mathieu signed a one-year, $7 million contract with the Texans and has emerged as a key leader for the AFC South leaders.”"

Mathieu signing with the Texans has been possibly the best offseason move the Texans made, and imagine how different the Texans’ defense would be without Mathieu in the defensive backfield. Mathieu has gave the Texans not only great credentials on the defense, but he’s become one of the defensive leaders and has made his teammates around him better as well.

Sean Pendergast of the Houston Press informed everyone a reason to enjoy this season is because the 2019 Texans schedule will be a bit tougher, with Pendergast writing:

"“Road games outside the division to Kansas City, the Chargers, New Orleans, and Pittsburgh. Those are basically four of the consensus top ten teams in football as we speak.”"

That isn’t the fondest of schedules for the Texan next season, but he is right, fans of the Texans should enjoy this year because there will be some tougher games played next season.

T.A. Mock of Houston of Houston — a FanSided website — said the Texans need to franchise tag outside linebacker Jadeveon Clowney in 2019, writing the following about the pending situation for the Texans and Clowney:

"“I do not think that the Houston Texans are looking to give the stud defender a lucrative extension, at least not yet.”"

This will be a huge topic this offseason. Will the Texans franchise tag Clowney or will he get a new contract? It will be a must-watch situation this offseason, that is a fact.

Fans of the Texans can make the Texans represented well in the Pro Bowl, but let’s be honest, getting the players selected is one thing, but it would be better if the Texans were still playing a meaningful game the week following the Pro Bowl.
