Round 2
Oshane Ximines, Outside Linebacker, Old Dominion

The Texans’ own pick in the 2019 NFL Draft will be close to the selection of their other second-round pick. With this potential draft selection by the Texans, they can look a number of ways, with this choice most likely going to the defense once again, this time at linebacker.

For argument’s sake, let’s say that the Texans don’t re-sign outside linebacker Jadeveon Clowney, or they could place the franchise tag on him for a season. If that’s the case, the Texans could draft a long-term solution to a potential departure of Clowney and select Oshane Ximines from Old Dominion.

Ximines is a defensive end edge user who could also be like Clowney and play off the edge at outside linebacker in Romeo Crennel’s defensive scheme. This season at Old Dominion as a senior, Ximines has played in 12 games, where he’s collected 58 tackles (18 tackles for a loss), with 11.5 sacks, one interception and two passes defensed. Ximines has also forced four fumbles this season.

This selection all comes down to whether the Texans decide to keep or part ways with Clowney, but adding a 6-4, 255-pound defensive end to potentially play outside linebacker for them could be a great addition to the defense, no matter the decision they make with Clowney.
