Julian Love, Cornerback, Notre Dame

There is a possibility that Kareem Jackson doesn’t return to the Houston Texans in 2019, which is why there is a good chance the Texans replace him in his potential departure through the NFL Draft, and this is a good spot to do so with the first of their two picks in the round.

Julian Love of Notre Dame could be the player who the Texans select in the draft for his overall athleticism and ability. The issue with Love is that he is just 5-11, but playing at Notre Dame has given him the opportunity to show his abilities on a national stage.

In three seasons at Notre Dame, Love has 174 total tackles (124 solo) with six tackles for loss, five interceptions, 38 passes defensed, four fumble recoveries and two touchdowns. Love has also two forced fumbles in his career.

This season, as a junior, Love has played in 12 games where he’s collected 61 tackles, three tackles for a loss, one interception, three fumble recoveries and one forced fumble. He’s also recovered a fumble for a touchdown in 2018.

A team can never have too many cornerbacks available on their roster, especially having to face Andrew Luck and T.Y. Hilton of the Indianapolis Colts twice a season. Having two second-round picks at their disposal, the Texans would be smart to look for a cornerback in this round.
