The Houston Texans played a big-time game on Monday Night Football by defeating the Tennessee Titans to keep their two-game lead in the AFC South.

There is no problem in Houston anymore. In fact, all the Houston Texans have done for eight straight games is one thing … win. The Texans avenged a Week 2 loss in Week 12 by defeating the Tennessee Titans, 34-17 on Monday Night Football, earning their eighth straight win along the way for an overall record of 8-3.

Houston’s win gives them a two-game lead over the Indianapolis Colts in the AFC South standings, as the Colts are 6-5 overall, winning their past five games. Tennessee falls to 5-6 overall, three games back of the Texans.

On Monday night in front of a national audience, the Texans showcased their skills at a high level against the Titans as Lamar Miller had the play of the game with a 97-yard rushing touchdown in the first half. Miller finished the game with 12 carries for 162 yards and one touchdown, with the running back averaging 13.5 yards per carry.

Seeing Miller have by far his best game of the season was a sight to behold, as he gained 148 of his yards in the first half. If Miller is able to have consistent games from here on out, he’ll help make the Texans an even more dangerous offense than they have already been.

Speaking of dangerous players, let’s take a look at quarterback Deshaun Watson, who was 19-of-24 for 210 yards with two touchdowns and even more impressive, no interceptions. Watson also rushed nine times for 70 yards and a touchdown. Watson averaged 7.8 yards per carry.

Even though Watson had a slow start to the game, when he got going, there was no stopping the Texans and their quarterback. Watson is playing some of his best football, and he’s going to lead the Texans to some more wins as the season keeps rolling along.

The defense of the Texans totaled two forced fumbles and six sacks. Christian Covington was a standout with 2.5 sacks against the Titans as he became close friends with Titans QB Marcus Mariota. Also with sacks were J.J. Watt (1.5 sacks, one forced fumble), Whitney Mercilus (1.5 sacks) and Jadeveon Clowney (half sack).

Celebrate the win, Texans fans, for it was a well-earned victory. Be sure to check back for more coverage of the Texans’ win at the Toro Times on Tuesday.
