5. Justin Reid‘s rookie performance

How exciting has it been to watch the play of rookie defensive back Justin Reid this season? In his rookie year, Reid has not only been a big part of the defense of the Texans, but he should be considered to be a serious nomination for the NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year.

Reid has had an excellent rookie season for the Texans, as the third-round pick out of Stanford has 52 tackles, seven passes defensed, three interceptions and a touchdown in his first nine games of his career.

Houston should be very thankful they waited until the third round of the NFL Draft to select Reid as he is not only looking like a bargain for a third-round pick, but if he was drafted in the first round, he is playing up to that level, too.

If Reid is able to keep up his current pace of play for the Texans defense, not only will he continue to gain attention from Texans fans and from those who watch the AFC, but nationally he’ll start getting the credit he has earned.

The Texans should be thankful for Reid and his 101-yard interception return for a touchdown. They should be thankful he’s a big part of the return of a strong defense, and they should be thankful he’s playing at this high of a level and is just a rookie.
