Keke Coutee

The Houston Texans may have found a special player in the fourth round with slot receiver Keke Coutee. The Texas native has shown the ability to be a third reliable option at wide receiver for quarterback Deshaun Watson. Coutee has shown to be an effective player whenever he’s been on the field. He had a franchise record 11 receptions for 109 yards in his rookie debut against the Indianapolis Colts and was vital in helping the Texans win their first game of the regular season.

Coutee has 21 receptions for 196 yards through four games and he has been instrumental in the Texans turnaround. Despite only playing four games due to nagging hamstring injuries, the Texans have won in every game Coutee has played. Obviously, other factors come into play when the team wins, but Coutee has made big plays as a rookie whenever his name has been called.

Since having him as the third option at receiver, the Texans have had a reliable receiver to have in the middle of the field. Coutee was able to take advantage of all the attention the Texans receivers had in the outside. He’s had plenty of success exploiting the middle of the field and he is by far the best receiver after DeAndre Hopkins and Demaryius Thomas. The Texans utilized Joe Webb at wide receiver against the Denver Broncos, that’s a clear indicator of what they believe of the other receivers playing in the slot. The Texans will be a better team when Coutee returns to the field.
