Secondary

This is one of the best parts of the Houston Texans to watch this season, as the signing of veteran safety Tyrann Mathieu has brought a new spark and expectations to the rest of the secondary.

Houston’s cornerbacks are Johnathan Joseph and Aaron Colvin as the starters, and at safety with a lot of game time are Kareem Jackson, Mathieu, Justin Reid and Andre Hal as they stand out the most for this franchise.

Jackson has done an excellent job in the defensive backfield, having 51 tackles with 41 solo tackles, four stuffs and two forced fumbles. Jackson also has two interceptions for 24 yards and 10 passes defensed. Jackson is currently having a great year, and if he continues that trend the Texans defensive backfield will be a unit for which opposing coaches will be rendered sleepless for rest of the regular season and maybe longer.

Colvin when healthy has been solid, and rookie Reid has been a great addition to the Texans backfield too. There is also the consistent Joseph, and he’s always putting together games that many take for granted.

This unit seems to be strong, and the defense of the Texans as a whole is pretty darn good, too.
