Houston Texans: Deshaun Watson, mid-season grades, report card
Quarterbacks
It has been so far, so good for the Houston Texans at the quarterback position as they’ve only used second-year standout Deshaun Watson as the main signal caller this season. Watson has had some struggles at times this season, but overall he’s been a huge reason Houston has been as successful as they have this season.
To make things simple, without Watson the Texans wouldn’t be standing at 6-3 overall, and they would not have a winning record. Watson is the leader of the offense, and after missing seven games last season with a torn ACL, he’s returned as a strong quarterback, taken a hit — maybe too many hits — and he’s become an even better passer than he was his rookie season.
Watson is exciting to watch with the way he finds DeAndre Hopkins and Will Fuller (before his injury). He’s making a big name for himself, and eventually many will talk about Watson being as one of the best quarterbacks in all of the NFL.
This season, Watson has completed 64.9 percent of his passes for 2,389 yards with 17 touchdowns and seven interceptions. He’s also built a QB Rating of 100.8, while averaging 265.4 yards per game passing.
Putting into account all of his accolades and how he’s survived being sacked 30 times already this season, Watson has been more than reliable for the Texans this season, and without his talent, they wouldn’t not be where they are right now in the standings.
